Spent the past weekend in Phoenicia with film maker Hugo Genes working on his short "Leaves". I actually had the pleasure of doing some improv acting during a party scene that he filmed a while back and was very happy for the invite to continue to be a part of the process. The lead male is a good friend, Jordan Fogle, who is a multi-instrumentalist from Austin, Tx and apparently a pretty great actor. Here are some behind-the-scenes photos.
Last weekend I helped out my friends Julia and James with a music video for the band Star the Moonlight. The video for "The Good Fight" is a psychedelic space adventure where our leading man encounters some space cloud nymphs along his journey. The set was amazing and the cast and crew were even better! So fun and amazing to see people getting involved in something just for the love of the project and for each other. I can't wait to see the final product, which is slated to release in the next 2-3 months. Here are some behind the scenes photos :
Last weekend artists across Bushwick opened up their studios' doors to the public to take a look at their work and get to engage with the artists on a personal level. I always have a delightful time at these. I love the fun (sometimes awkward) interactions of strolling into a strangers space where they spend so much time working and saying "Hey! What's going on in here?". I've been to similar ones in Industry City and Ditmas Park, but this one may have taken the cake for zaniest vibes. The intersection at Jefferson & Wyckoff was particularly spectacular where I saw the box trucks that housed various installations and performances. I went on Saturday to snap some photos and had such a good time that I went back Sunday sans camera.
Big Congratulations to ReadySet - custom fabricators, set designers and builders in NY for TV, Film and Photography. Last night was their 20th Anniversary Celebration and it was amazing to see such camaraderie amongst their employees and friends. Their space was packed with people sipping drinks after a long week of work and admiring the installations, custom furniture, and art on display in their gallery. I was invited by my friend Zack who builds for ReadySet and was performing with his band Flying Dead. Thanks for the free PBR and lovely evening
Sunday was a blast! IGBO (NYC band with boatloads of funk) hosted a cookout/day show to celebrate the last days of Summer. It was the second installation of what will hopefully turn into a regular event with friends, food and killer artists. I got to see performances from Jelani Sei, Akokonante, Elissa, Sam OB, L'Rain, Zenizen and of course, the hosts, IGBO. Food was provided by Strange Flavor and featured a menu of slow roasted pork tacos, spicy potato salad, and even some vegan chicken legs for the ethical consumers out there. EVERYONE was amazing, here are some highlights.
